SO IN THE COMICS she’s falling off a bridge and he catches her to try to save her with his spider web, but her body is forced into an unnatural position and she snaps her neck. And as he’s reeling her body back, he’s still making wise-cracks about how much he loves his powers at the moment, because he saved her. And then he realises that she’s dead.

When I first watched this movie in theaters I actually was terrified of this scene because I thought she was gonna die since it was so similar to the way she died in the comics. I’m almost 100% convinced that in the final movie they will kill off Gwen the same way they did in the comic book and this scene from the first film is an intentional foreshadow.
